Colorado Shines Level 5

ECEMS Earns Colorado Shines’ Highest Quality Rating

ECEMS is proud to have earned a Level 5 Colorado Shines rating—the highest rating available through Colorado’s quality rating system for early learning programs. This achievement reflects our continued commitment to providing children and families with a high-quality, supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

How Learning Happens at ECEMS

Teachers observe and document children’s activities, then use that documentation to understand each child’s development in social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical areas. These assessments guide next steps in lesson planning for the group as well as individual children, helping learning remain responsive, meaningful, and supportive.

Observation & Documentation

We capture what children are exploring and practicing and use those insights to plan learning experiences that meet children where they are in their development.

Child-centered assessment

Project Approach

We incorporate projects that allow children to explore areas of interest more deeply through asking questions, investigating, creating, and sharing what they learn.

Deep exploration

Families as Partners

Parents are viewed as collaborators with teachers and children throughout the learning process. We value open communication and shared goals throughout the year.

Family collaboration

What This Looks Like Each Day

You’ll see guided play, thoughtful routines, and learning experiences shaped by children’s interests, supported by teachers who observe closely and respond intentionally.
